About this journey
Walking through Rome’s historic centre, you’ll encounter the icons that made the city famous — and many that didn’t. From the Roman Forum (external view) and the Capitoline Hill to the imposing Vittoriano Monument, Piazza Venezia, the elegant Piazza Navona, the Pantheon (external view), the magical Trevi Fountain, the charming Piazza di Spagna, and the lively Via del Corso and Via dei Condotti, famous for their shops and vibrant atmosphere.
Between one landmark and the next, the tour gains flavour with stops to taste the best of Roman cuisine: artisanal gelato and irresistible pizza al taglio. You’ll also visit churches filled with hidden artworks tucked away in narrow alleys, experiencing the true soul of Rome.
To make the experience even more special, your guide will share exclusive recommendations of restaurants and local spots so you can enjoy the city like a true Roman. A walk that brings together culture, history and flavour — in a single day at the heart of Italy.
What you’ll experience
Roman Forum and Capitoline Hill, Vittoriano Monument, Piazza Venezia, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Piazza di Spagna — all on foot, all properly explained.
The most vibrant streets of central Rome, where Romans shop and Romans stroll. Your guide tells you where to look — and what to skip.
Stops along the way for the best of Roman street food: pizza by the slice from the centro's best bakers, and gelato from true artisanal makers — not tourist chains.
Down narrow alleys, churches you'd walk past contain masterpieces by Caravaggio, Bernini and Raphael. Your guide takes you inside the ones worth seeing.
Your guide is a qualified tour leader who lives in Rome and speaks fluent English — a Roman friend who'll show you the city.
By the end, you'll have a personal list of restaurants, trattorias and corners of Rome to explore on your own — places we'd send our friends.
The tour, step by step
A natural rhythm of walking, looking, tasting and pausing. Your guide adjusts to the season, the weather and your interests.
Start
We meet at Barberini Station (Metro Line A), or another agreed point. Your guide introduces the day, the route and the first stories of Rome.
+ 30 min
We begin with two of Rome’s most magical squares — the Trevi Fountain with its legend of the coin, and the elegance of Piazza di Spagna with the Spanish Steps.
+ 1 h
A walk along the most famous shopping streets of central Rome — not for buying, but for feeling the city’s daily life and stopping at a historic café for an espresso.
+ 1.5 h
The Pantheon (external view) — the best-preserved building from ancient Rome — followed by Piazza Navona with Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers. A perfect pause for gelato.
+ 2 h
Between the squares, we slip into the side streets to visit churches with hidden masterpieces. A taste of pizza al taglio at one of the centro’s best bakeries.
+ 2.5 h
We close the tour at Piazza Venezia, with the imposing Vittoriano Monument and the view from the Capitoline Hill over the Roman Forum below.
+ 3 h
Your guide hands you a personalised list of restaurants and places to explore on your own — places only locals would point you to.
